Morrow Mill

The old mill dam still stands just above Morrow Mill Road. This mill was established by Robert Millikan in 1780 (Orange Ct Min Feb 1780). Orange Co. DB 21, pg 237 recites many of the terms of Robert Milliken Sr.'s will, which was dated 1813. The mill passed through the hands of his heirs, but was sold to William Morrow in 1822 (Orange County Deed Book 20, page 316).

This same mill is shown on the Tate map of Orange County (1891) as Webb and Morrow's Mill. Alexander S Webb owned a considerable amount of land in that area and had several real estate dealings with the Morrows. Area residents say that a Morrow daughter married a Webb son and that the mill was owned by their descendants at one time.

About 2/3 of the way up from the Haw to Morrow Mill Road there is a small rapid. The north/west bank of Cane Creek in that vicinity has distinctly been built-up with stacked stone - perhaps some sort of boat landing at one time.
