Upriver: High Rock Mill

Troxler Mill

Benjamin Suddath sold 108 acres here to Jonathan Watlington in 1824 including a fish dam. His son, Edward built the first mill dam shortly after 1855 (GDB 113, pg 708), but soon sold the mill to Ludwick Summers (GDB 113, pg 710), whose granddaughter, Mary Whitsett (GDB 84, pg 694 & GDB 87, pg 279) and her husband Joseph (Johnson 1895) sold the mill to Lewis and Mary Troxler in 1898 (GDB 113, pg 712). The dam is broken on the right, just above the mill ruins. One area resident says that Troxler Mill ground grain and corn well into the 1950’s.
